MicroLink Privacy Policy

In brief: MicroLink is a general reagent-inventory management application. The mobile device acts as a secure delivery and communication bridge between Microlab’s cloud inventory system and compatible instruments, allowing authorized reagent packs and inventory information to be added, transferred, tracked, and synchronized. The App does not collect or transmit patient records, test results, diagnoses, or other health data. It does not display advertising, use an advertising or analytics SDK, or sell personal data.

1. Scope and developer

This Privacy Policy applies only to the MicroLink Android and iOS application (the “App”), package name com.mipl.microlink. The App is developed and provided by Microlab Instruments Private Limited (“Microlab”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

MicroLink is intended for authorized adult professionals managing reagent inventory for compatible Microlab instruments. It is a general inventory and logistics tool: it does not provide medical-device functionality, perform or support diagnosis or treatment, make clinical decisions, or collect, process, store, or transmit patient records, patient identifiers, test results, diagnoses, or other health data.

3. Device permissions

• Nearby devices and Bluetooth: to discover and securely connect to compatible Microlab instruments. Bluetooth scans are not used to infer location.
• Camera: to scan reagent-pack QR codes and, only when you choose to file a dispute, capture evidence photographs.
• Precise location while in use: to record where an activation, transfer, dispute, or relevant security event occurs and to verify proximity during a transfer. MicroLink does not request background location.

You can deny or revoke permissions in your device settings, but the related core feature may then be unavailable.

4. Information the App does not collect

MicroLink does not collect or transmit patient names, patient identifiers, demographic information, clinical measurements, laboratory test results, diagnoses, treatment information, medical records, or other health data. The compatible instrument’s diagnostic or analytical operation is outside the App. MicroLink handles reagent inventory and operational traceability only.

5. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

• authenticate the App without requiring a named user account;
• connect securely to compatible instruments;
• validate, activate, transfer, trace, and manage reagent packs;
• synchronize operational volume and inventory information;
• show the device’s relevant scan and transfer history;
• detect counterfeit, diverted, incompatible, expired, recalled, or previously used packs;
• investigate disputes, suspected interference, fraud, security incidents, and operational errors;
• maintain product, quality, security, and regulatory audit records; and
• comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations.

We do not use MicroLink information for advertising or cross-app tracking.

6. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell personal data. Information is available only as necessary to:

• authorized Microlab operations, administrative, quality, security, and support personnel;
• Google Firebase and Google Cloud, which provide authentication, database, file storage, server functions, and hosting infrastructure on our behalf;
• professional advisers, auditors, regulators, courts, or law-enforcement authorities where required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, product integrity, or security; and
• a successor organization in connection with a lawful merger, acquisition, restructuring, or transfer, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Our infrastructure providers may process information in countries other than your own, subject to their contractual and legal safeguards.

7. Data security

MicroLink communicates with cloud services over encrypted network connections. Access to cloud records is authenticated and restricted by role or by the App’s anonymous identifier. Instrument communication uses a session-based secure link. Dispute images are stored in identifier-scoped paths with restricted client access. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, but we apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information and the service.

8. Retention and deletion

We retain operational and audit information for as long as reasonably necessary for reagent traceability, instrument support, dispute resolution, fraud and security investigation, quality control, and legal or regulatory requirements. Retention periods can therefore differ by record type. Dispute evidence and append-only audit events may be retained after an App installation is removed when needed for those purposes.

MicroLink does not ask you to create a named profile or password. It automatically creates an anonymous App identifier. Uninstalling the App removes local App data but does not automatically delete cloud audit records.

You may request access to or deletion of information associated with your installation by contacting us at info@microlab.co.in. Include “MicroLink privacy request”, the relevant instrument serial number, and an approximate date range so we can locate the records. We will verify and respond to requests as required by applicable law. We may retain information that must be kept for legal, regulatory, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, or product-traceability reasons and will explain this where applicable.

9. Your choices

• You control Camera, Nearby devices/Bluetooth, and Location permissions through the device settings.
• Purchase-proof photographs and dispute notes are optional. A pack photograph is required only if you choose to submit a dispute.
• Please do not include patient information or unrelated personal information in photographs or notes. MicroLink is not designed to collect patient records.

10. Children’s privacy

MicroLink is a professional laboratory-instrument companion app and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when MicroLink, our practices, or legal requirements change. We will publish the updated policy at this URL and revise the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated in the App or through another appropriate channel.
