In brief: MicroLink Service is a professional tool for authorized Microlab service engineers. It uses a named account, connects securely to compatible instruments over Bluetooth, requests cloud-authorized service access, and records service and security activity. It is not designed to collect patient records or test results. It does not show advertising, use an advertising or analytics SDK, or sell personal data.
Request account deletion
To request deletion of your MicroLink Service account and associated personal information, email abhi@microlab.co.in (cc: info@microlab.co.in). Include the email address used to sign in and your service Tech ID so we can verify and locate your account. Do not send a password, service-pack QR code, or patient information.
You can also start this request in the App under Service Settings → Delete Account. The App opens a prefilled email; you must send it to submit the request. Opening the email app signs you out, but it does not itself delete your account. Microlab reviews and processes the request. Some service, instrument, and security audit records may need to be retained for traceability or legal obligations, as explained in Section 8.
Email a deletion request1. Scope and developer
This Privacy Policy applies to the MicroLink Service Android and iOS application (the “App”), identifier com.mipl.microlink.service. The App is developed and operated by Microlab Instruments Private Limited (“Microlab”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
The App is intended for authorized adult service engineers who support compatible Microlab instruments. It provides service access and operational traceability; it does not display patient records, perform diagnosis, or make clinical decisions.
2. Information the App accesses or processes
Engineer account
Firebase Authentication handles your sign-in email, password, and account identifier. The App reads your service roster record, including Tech ID, display name, and active status, to control access. The App does not store your password in its service roster.
Instrument and connection details
To connect and verify service access, the App processes Bluetooth device identity, instrument serial or CPU identifier, model, firmware, service state, and a temporary secure-session public key. It looks up registered instrument information in the cloud.
Service sessions and returns
Cloud records of service-token issuance and HbA1c service-pack returns can include your account identifier and Tech ID, instrument serial and model, reagent class, service pack and lot identifiers, cassette quantities, operation outcomes, and timestamps.
Camera and service-pack QR
For applicable HbA1c service work, the camera scans your service-pack QR code on the device. The decoded code is sent to the cloud to validate the pack and authorize a service grant. The App does not upload a photograph or video of the camera view.
Security event and location
If an instrument rejects a service token because its secure-session binding does not match, the App may record your account identifier, instrument serial, action and error code, phone operating system, timestamp, and—when location is available and permission is granted—latitude, longitude, and location accuracy.
Support requests
If you email us about privacy or account deletion, we receive the contact details and information you include in that message. Please provide only what is needed to identify and handle your request.
3. Device permissions
- Nearby devices and Bluetooth: to discover and connect to compatible instruments through a secure link. The App does not use Bluetooth scans to infer your location.
- Camera: to scan a service-pack QR code when an HbA1c service unlock requires one.
- Location while in use: When you tap Connect on Android, the App requests location permission along with Bluetooth permissions. On Android 11 and earlier, location access may be needed to discover nearby Bluetooth instruments. Denying location does not itself block the App’s permission check, although discovery may be unavailable on those older devices. The App obtains coordinates only if it reports a secure-session binding failure; it checks permission again at that point and may ask if needed. If location is denied or unavailable, the security event is recorded without coordinates. The App does not request background location or use Bluetooth scans to infer your location.
- Internet access: to authenticate, check engineer status, request service authorization, and record required cloud activity.
You may deny or revoke device permissions in system settings, but the related service feature may then be unavailable.
4. Information the App is not designed to collect
MicroLink Service does not ask for patient names, patient identifiers, clinical measurements, laboratory test results, diagnoses, treatment information, or medical records. Its service workflow does not upload camera photos or videos. It does not use advertising identifiers for profiling or cross-app tracking.
5. How we use information
- Authenticate named engineers and enforce active service-team status.
- Connect to instruments and issue session-bound service authorization.
- Validate service packs, track service grants and reconcile unused HbA1c cassettes.
- Investigate operational errors, possible interference, fraud, or misuse.
- Maintain service, quality, safety, and security records and comply with applicable obligations.
- Respond to support, privacy, and account deletion requests.
6. Sharing and service providers
We do not sell personal data. Information is accessed or shared only as needed with authorized Microlab service, operations, quality, security, and support personnel; Google Firebase and Google Cloud, which provide authentication, database, server-function, and hosting infrastructure; and advisers, auditors, regulators, or public authorities when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect safety, product integrity, or security. Our infrastructure providers may process information in other countries under their applicable safeguards.
7. Data security
The App communicates with cloud services over encrypted network connections and uses an encrypted session-based link to compatible instruments. Cloud access is authenticated and restricted by engineer status and service permissions. We use technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information involved, although no electronic system is completely secure.
8. Retention and deletion
We retain account and operational information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide authorized service, investigate incidents, support instruments, maintain product traceability and quality records, resolve disputes, and meet legal or regulatory requirements. Retention can differ by record type. Removing the App or signing out does not automatically delete cloud records.
When a verified account deletion request is processed, Microlab de-provisions the engineer’s access and deletes or removes account and personal information that is no longer required. Service-session, service-pack, instrument, and security audit records may be retained where necessary for the purposes above; where practical, we limit the personal information retained in those records. We will explain any necessary retention when responding to the request.
Use the account deletion request instructions above or contact us below. You may also ask about access to, correction of, or deletion of information associated with your account. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
9. Your choices
- Control Camera, Nearby devices/Bluetooth, and Location permissions in device settings.
- Use the in-app deletion request or the public email route above, even if you no longer have the App installed.
- Contact us with privacy questions or requests using the details below.
10. Children’s privacy
MicroLink Service is a professional service-engineering tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information through the App. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this page if the App, our practices, or applicable requirements change. We will post the revised policy at this URL and update the “Last updated” date.
